Sober: Hi and welcome! Yes, you are doing this right and yes you can share anything here that you want to share and you'll receive posts back from people. We're definitely here to help anyone struggling with the disease of addiction, whether it's alcohol or drugs. Addiction is a disease and it's hard to admit that we have a disease sometimes. Even though the product may be different, all addictions are the same, they are destructive, both to ourselves, our families, friends, and so on. It's a very difficult disease to manage, and just when you think you are doing great, bang, there's a temptation that jumps up at you. We have to gain strength and coping mechanisms to kick that temptation to the curb and to also deal with what causes our addictions. When you look deep inside, so many of us can tell you why we do what we do. We lie to ourselves and others and we become so good at it, that we almost make ourselves believe it. It's difficult to become sober/clean and then to find recovery, and there is a very big difference between just being clean/sober and being in recovery. Meetings are a good thing to go to also, you can find people who are local to you who you can call before you take a drink/use drugs again. It's important to find someone you feel comfortable talking to and that you can talk to them honestly. I love when meetings have speakers who have lots of clean time, you can learn so much from them. I had some clean time behind me and then heard a speaker talk about "WHO". I had no idea what she was talking about until she explained that we need to have a Willingness, be Honest and Open-minded that we can do this. She was so inspiring! Please keep posting and we'll keep helping you through. We can't do this by ourselves and we need to help each other. Our lives do depend on it. Hugs!
