lexapro reply

Post by ddroxler » Tue Aug 21, 2007 5:47 pm

I have been sober for over 7 years and have taken Lexapro the entire time. It IS part of my recovery, to take an antidepressant after suffering many years of depression. There is nothing wrong with taking needed medication. I would not have been able to stay sober had I been depressed the way I was out there. We need to be very, very careful with medication that is a narcotic. Anti-depressants are not narcotics.

Please know, many, many of us take these medications.

Take care and God Bless.

double trouble meetings

I know that there are meetings called "double trouble" that are just for that purpose. You could try calling the intergroup of AA and asking where they are. I'm not sure how many meetings there are at this time.

jenni,

I hope somebody else with more experience answers, because I am not sure what I am about to say really matters.

I am a alcoholic and I have been taking lexapro for @ 6 months. 20 mgs. It definitley helps. I am better with than without.

I don't think I will be on it forever. I just hope it will get me through the priod I need it to get me through.

Dual Recovery

Does anyone know about dual recovery in Philly? I am looking for meetings. I am an alcoholic, and I am taking psychiatric meds. I have been sober in AA for over 3 months, but I feel there is a stigma regarding medications.
