Hey Jackie,

You sound the same as I did. I always thought I could learn to control my drinking, but the truth is I can't. No matter what I do. I may be able to once in a while, but I will always end up having another black out drunken time. I am 38 days sober today. I read something that said "if you have to control something, it's out of control" and it made perfect sense to me. I was so nervous to attend my first meeting, but I did. I also have not gone to a meeting yet in my home town for fear of running into someone I know. That doesn't matter to me anymore. I've run into people I knew at the out of town meetings I attended. It actually is comforting running into those you know. We are all there for the same reason. To be sober. Once I went, it was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. The program works. I wish you the best of luck. If you ever need to chat I am more than happy to! :D

Hi, first day on site. Trying to figure out how to navigate this website. Have not fully admitted I'm an alcoholic, thinking it's something I can control, yet feeling alone & isolated when it comes to the topic of drinking. Looked up meetings in my area but don't want to run into anyone I know. Grateful for this outlet.
