nrl: You definitely should contact a detox center for help with this. I had a serious dilaudid addiction and tried to do it on my own, and I only made it worse. I started taking the dilaudid for a chronic pain issue as well, and just "knew" I couldn't not take them because of the pain I had. You know what, since I'm off the dilaudid, the pain is definitely not bad at all, a lot of the pain I was feeling was caused by the medication and the addiction. Your employer cannot find out from your insurance company due to something called HIPPA and the health insurance company cannot hold it against you. I did post another message for you, but I'll put it all here, in case that one got lost. If you have any sick or vacation time, they are possibilities so you don't have to tell your employer what's going on. People who go to NA meetings and have been clean very long term say that when a couple is addicted, you both have to want to kick it, or unfortunately when you get out, your relapse rate is high. NA Meetings are very helpful, the people there know what you are going through, because they have been there, they are very caring people. Do this for yourself, you'll feel better. You admitted you need help, and that is the first step, now call a facility and get help.
