getting evicted and looking for help

Post by vidk » Thu Nov 03, 2005 7:56 pm

Hi folks--

I'm new to this board but I'm looking for help. I've been in program, sober, and clean 2 years 3 months now. And, I thank God for His wisdom and guidance into AA and the 12 Steps.

But I need help in a different way. I'm being evicted and I owe my landlord alot of money. I serendipitously came across a web site today that helps people fund common causes and I'm hoping that if anyone here can or knows anyone that can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's the link to my Fundable page (it should be approved in 24hrs) and I've posted my story from it here. Thanks and God Bless!

My name is David and I'm about to be evicted from my apartment. I am a recovering alchoholic/drug addict and I've been sober and clean 2 year 3 months 5 days.

If you know anyone who's ever been in my situation then you know that it is a very tough and scary road. I've had jobs since getting sober. Right now I'm employed and have been for almost 4 months. Unfortunately, in the last year I was temping and either the contract I was in ended or I lost the job and any extra money I had was used to keep my bouyant untill the next job. Consequently, I'm in the rears with my landlord for $5050.

Since getting sober, I've made sincere, genuine progress in changing my attitudes and behaviors. I've volunteered my own time and money to help others. Now I'm looking for help. This is too much for me to handle on my own in the time I have.

I'm being sued on Nov 10th. The landlord will take $2500 before then to postpone the legal action. The consequences besides loosing my apartment will be additional bad credit and a lien. I've never filed bankruptcy before and I pray I won't have to now. I currently don't have an long term living arrangements available to me. I know this is alot to ask, but, I hope there are some sympathetic folks out there that can help.
