How to help my friend

Post by helpneeded » Tue Jan 20, 2015 12:01 pm

I've gotten strength from this site for some of my own personal questions and habits. But now it's time for me to put on the support - hat. I sent a post back in May about long term effects of opiate use. Well for my friend, the poop has hit the fan. He's been in two auto wrecks in three months. The last one, he's lucky to be alive. His daughter and I had spoken when he was in the ICU. I did talk to the nurse in his care and was brutally honest about his history.
They have put him in the adult care psych unit and there is a court hearing tomorrow on where to go with his care. He's embarrassed about this and doesn't want to see me. I'm staying close via phone with his daughter so I can be made aware of where things are heading.

How do I approach this very proud man who has been put in this position of care?

I know, be supportive and show love etc. How long do I wait, and what do I do?

Thank You
