Hi: I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is devastating, as evidenced by your husband's inability to cope at the moment. Being kind to yourself and having some compassion for your husband, understand that grieving takes its own course. There are stages of grief and people go in and out of them many times. It is only seven months since your son died and obviously no one would expect either of you to be "over it" or "through it."

Having said that, you would definitely benefit from any of the 12 Step Programs that are appropriate: Al-Anon, first and foremost. But, I would also seek out any of the many grief groups often offered in area churches; also, see if there is a group for parents who have lost a child. Good place to start might be your local hospital.

Take your focus off your husband's drinking (anyone's drinking). They have their own Higher Power to help them. You will benefit from getting your own support. I wish you peace.

Sheila

I am new to this and my husband is an alcoholic,in February our son died and my husband has been drinking everyday since
We both went to grieving counseling but he stopped.
Iam trying to find meetings that I can go to and not sure where or what to look for I found this site hoping to find out information my husband does not think he is an alcoholic and wants nothing to do with this.
