What are some of the topics that are discussed at AA meetings. I haven't been yet but I am thinking of going.

Every meeting is somewhat different, depending on the group. Some read literature (from the Big Book, Step Book or other AA books) for a short while and then open the meeting up for discussion. I like to go to "speaker" meetings where an alcoholic will tell his/her story of what it was like, what happened, and what it is like now. Then the meetings are opened up for sharing. The nice thing is that you do not have to raise your hand to speak at all, unless you want to. The best way to learn about the program of recovery is to listen with an open mind. I can always find something that I can relate to. Keep trying new meetings...you will find some that you like and also some that you do not care for. The wonderful thing is that there are so many meetings, we can choose the ones we like to go to.
