Today I am thankful to admit that becoming sober and cigarette free (1.5 years) has brought up a lot of my undealt-with issues, specifically anger. I am thankful to have recognized that anger is a problem for me, and it is not okay to lash out at people. Expressing anger especially causes problems for a woman more so than a man, but that's a whole 'nother conversation. I've been working on biting my tongue and taking deep breaths, recognizing the signs when anger arises in me, and not expressing it. Then I went to the chiropractor this morning and he told me my shoulder issues were two-part.. one, I had a pinched nerve, and two, I had internalized anger! So I am thankful to now know that biting my tongue is causing me health problems, and to have the resources of the internet to help me find better ways to deal with and work through my anger. I am thankful for this form and for you who is listening and understanding.
