I decided yesterday that I am going to be sober. I have a good friend of mine that is going to help me through it thankfully, but I also came onto this site for extra support. I'm 31 years old and I've waited too long to do this. I have too much to lose. I need to change my whole life around for me and my son. I'm terrified, but hopeful & excited. I will be attending my first meeting this weekend. I'm nervous. I just wish that I could have a few drinks like most people. I just want to be happy with every decision that I make from now on and not feel remorse & grief.

Wonderful! Making the decision is veryyyy brave and courageous. Best gift you could have ever given your son.

Jimmyc80,
I hope you are doing okay. I haven't logged on here in a while. Things will get better! Like someone said to me... This is the best decision you could make for yourself and your child. Hang in there
I'm here to chat if you need to!
