I would recommend not only get to a meeting or many meetings but open up , let people know how you feel and get at least three phone numbers before you leave each meeting. This is what was suggested to me by my sponsor and it worked. The more you do this (get phone numbers at every meeting) the better you will feel, even if you don't call a majority of the people. The idea is that you have someone to call when you need it the most; sometimes it is a choice between making the call or taking the next drink, none of us know when that might hit. So it is reassuring to know you have back up just in case one person is not home, you can go on to the next one and so on until you reach someone. We do not have a guarantee with sobriety but we do have a guarantee to be there for each other whenever possible!
I can volunteer to drive you to a meeting sometime if you feel scared to go by yourself. My email is djdjanuary@ gmail.com.
See how simple this is? I just gave you my contact info without you even asking for it. You can email me at anytime. Hugs to you, Daniel
