Mom needs help

Unread postby MikeD » Fri Nov 12, 2010 8:58 am

After a decades of drinking my mom almost died last year, fortunately she was scared straight by the experience and has been sober now for one year. She joined AA and went to a few meetings but because she cannot accept the religious aspect of it so she will no longer go. I know that its probably just an excuse but she can be quite stubborn and refuses to hang with the "prayer group crowd". I am almost positive that she is going to start drinking again and I know from a lifetime of experience that I am powerless to stop it. She lives alone and has very few friends so what Id like to know is how can get her involved in a non-religious/non-alcohol group? Are there any secular AA meetings in the Toms River area?
