going off Percocet

Unread postby Guest » Wed Jan 23, 2013 4:57 pm

I'm new to this board. I just got out of a dual-diagnosis facility and I'm scared of the temptation. Percs had me since 2007 and I went from doctor to doctor and ER to ER to get them. I've got three weeks clean and I don't want to screw it up. I am going to NA but I still feel fear. Please, someone help me.

Good for you taking a step to do something for yourself! I was hooked on opiates including percs myself and just reached the year mark!!! It is the absolute best thing I ever did!!! People instructed me to go to mtgs every single day for 90 days. I didn't do all that but I will tell that I went twice a week and that is def the key to staying sober. It sounds silly but u have to do it. If you want to save your own life you need to get rid of any form of contact you have with anyone who uses and you need to make it very clear to any doctor that you see that you are "allergic" to percs. You must make new friends and surround yourself with better people... It's a must. Nothing is worth you ruining your life. You will start to find more enjoyment doing other types of things. ... For me I needed/need my higher power to get me through this.
You must view yourself getting better as a "gift" bc it most certainly is. I hope I was of any help and I'm here if you have any questions. Remember ONE DAY AT A TIME.... Bc any one can Behave for just one day. ;)
