Trying to be supportive

Unread postby jdavis » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:30 am

I asked about long term effects of opiate use and delusional behavior. The nice folks out there on this forum helped me understand. I have the friend in question that has now bottomed out and is in clinical care. In fact, he, and his daughter and doctors are in court today attempting to decide his fate for treatment.

This is a proud man who after he got cleaned up, the residual effects started in. He lost work, he lost his wife, and family has shunned him.

I have stood by him. He got into his second auto accident in three months. Found out there were sleeping pills in his system. He's lucky to be alive. When he was moved from ICU to the adult psych unit he told his daughter that he didn't want to see me....or anyone.

Today is court day. I've texted his daughter to ask for updates. I guess I need help and advice as to how do I proceed. I want to be supportive but I don't want to embarrass him as well. I invite any and all assistance. Hell of it is, I went to this site cuz I thought I was drinking too much, now I think that's in check, and now I'm reaching out to help one of my best friends.

God does work in mysterious ways!!!! and great ones at that!!!!!!
thanks
