Sobriety is the clarity to see that I am OK inspite of my limited perspective and resources; that I am
part of a community that will continually resource me as long as I humbly keep coming back to it.

With this support, I can feel the peace of lving a good life, full of friends, family, joys and sorrows, hopes
and dreams and the time to sit and look at a rose or hear the song of a bird. Sobriety means that I
am part of the human family, that my fellow travelors all share a connection to this moment in time
and that we are all cosmic cousins in the Grander Scheme of Things. And our dilligence to shining
an accepting and tolerant light to one another is our greatest responsibility. For it is here that
we find our worth and our personal direction.

Sobriety is community; it was never intended to be a gift for one.

Sobriety is a way of living that is conscious and intentional, supported by self-awareness, personal accountability and responsible action to effect positive change in the world.

Sobriety is being able to sacrifice personal needs for the truth.

Sobriety is a way of life.

Life will serve us intense and insane moments that weigh heavy on your sole, sobriety to all those who stay the course and bare this burden remembering that you are not alone.

Sobriety is being on this sight and having a clear mind to make a post or replying to someone who is reaching out.
Sobriety is not waking up with a hangover and telling the kids to be quiet but waking up with a smile and just listening to the children being children.
Sobriety is enjoying seeing the sunshine through the window on a Sunday morning and not pulling the covers over your head.
Sobriety is knowing that you probably just saved someones life by driving the drunk home from a picnic.
Sobriety is listening to a the higher power to help lead you through the day.
Sobriety is keeping it simple and enjoying the little things that life has to offer and not dwell on insignificant things and taking it one day at a time.
SOBRIETY ROCKS !!!!!!!!!

Joe P, for the above post. We would like to thank everyone who posted.

They were all great; however, we had to pick a winner and Joe it is.

We especially liked the part about "replying to someone who is reaching out" and ending up with "SOBRIETY ROCKS !!!!!!!!!". It's not easy to take a moment to reply to someone else who is going through a crisis, especially when we ourselves are going through a tough time. But in the end we all need each other.

Thanks again everyone! :D

What is Sobriety?

Sobriety is something that no human being could ever explain because it is a gift from our creator. Sobriety for me though has meant realizing that every person here on earth is on the same playing field, none of us can run our own lives. This means that we do fall victim to addictions prior to being introduced to our creator, God which I only know through the spirit of Jesus Christ. Sobriety goes way beyond the superficial meaning that most people know, which is "we dont have alcohol in our blood anymore" but sobriety is so much more than that. You and I all know that alcohol was exactly as our big book tells us, "but a symptom of our problems." Meaning that, we were all discontent and irritable when we were running life on OUR OWN terms. So we picked up this tainted bottle that we once saw as an answer to our problems, this bottle was filled with something we are all familiar with, ALCOHOL. After days, months, and years of continuing to be powerless and trying to fill our void of unhappiness with many things, alcohol and whatever else would give us 5 seconds of peace of mind, we ran out of options and found that our answer to the unhappiness was not a SOLUTION. Sobriety means that I am not just content without a drink, I am elated! It means that my higher power has transformed me into a person who is so much better then what I could have ever dreamed of. I have been CURED ...HEALED...and most importantly so BLESSED because God has given me the greatest gift one could ever hope for through his son, he has filled my feeling of emptiness that I once had. I have HOPE for tomorrow and PEACE with my past. I have a book with a manual on how to live according to Gods plan, and a promise for eternal life.
Sobriety, it is another one of Gods bountiful gifts. Today, I am still a human being, do I make mistakes... absolutely, its only natural. Although I am so unworthy, through Christ God still loves me and you.

Went to the game yesterday. It was great. First time I ever left after a game sober and with money in my pocket. Also feels great to be able to remember the game and who won. Stay sober.... one day at a time!!!!!!! That is what I found works best for me.

Sobriety is a state of mind. The paradox is: It is a form of freedom and happiness which was always there; but can be savored and developed with time, work, and courage. You are always free becuase you are. However, For those who have experienced the lost freedom of choice, sobriety is a path back to freedom and fulfillment. To set aside 'self' in the hands of a loving power: SOBRIETY takes my worst which i was most ashamed of, and turned all this into my greatest assets. Sobrity offers a new freedom, courage and wisdom which faces fear, igorance, and isolation. Sobriety makes me attractive, To myself and others. It is a great way to live.
