Don't think in terms of years now - think in terms of days... After a while we don't remember how it feels to live clean and sober, but using sucks so bad, it's worth trying another path.

get to meetings...get to meetings... get a Sponsor!!!!... One day at Time, one hour at a time, or 1 minute at a time.......Trust me it works, I could not stand looking at myself in the mirror anymore, I hated myself, but at that time did not know what to do or how to get help, you have found it, now use it for all it's worth....

Congratulations on being clean and sober for hopefully now 15 days. I know what your going through as I went through the same thing. The last time I picked up was on 6/28/93 and I had to start out 1 hour at a time. I would literally look at the clock to see that I made it another hour. The best advice I can give you right here and now is get to meeting. If you have to make 2-3 per day than that's what you have to do. You don't have to speak just listen. If you want to speak than that's great. Start out by giving your first name and why your there. Get phone numbers of the same sex and get them from someone that has been in the program over 1 year. Get a sponsor ASAP as this person will help you out more than I can over the internet. When you feel like using, use the phone and call someone in the program. Talking about it does help. Surrender yourself to a higher power. I choose God. I gave my life up to him and asked him how to live my life. No I not a bible thumper I just asked God to guide me in the right direction.

Pick up a book called living sobor and also 12 steps. Read them. Get yourself a hobby to keep youself busy. Down time will only get you thinking about using.

God has blessed us all and may he watch over you. I wish you the best of luck. Don't be afraid to email me back. If I can help you I will!

I have decided that with Spring approaching that this is a good time for me to turn my life around. My children, 25,23,19, all agree that I have a problem. I drink A bottle of wine a night, not the small one either. Get totally smashed, stumbling up to bed and smoking in bed, also not a good thing, waking up feeling like crap. So depressed, calling people and doing the drunk calling and crying! Then when they ask have I been drinking, I deny, no, I say, and try like hell not to slur anymore.
Well enough is enough, me too, I have gone two days without a drink, going to my first meeting tonight. I'm ready, but I know I will need the strenght to keep it going. I've heard the day ' One day at a time ", that is how I'm going to have to begin the saying each and everyday.
