approach to drinking buddy

Unread postby gns » Sun Aug 20, 2006 1:08 pm

I hate my bf's drinking buddy. I am always angry with him and resentful when my bf chooses to spend time with him (jealous? of him? or of drinking as the other woman?).

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

one word if you truly love him and want it to last for the long haul:

Al-Anon.

I am an alcoholic so I am coming at this from the other side. I did choose to go out with my friends after work when I should have been home with my wife. Unfortunately it had a very bad outcome.

someone else might say get out now before it gets worse.

Hey gns,

I went to Al-anon and then to a therapist to release the anger (I'm still going). That anger was eating me up inside. I waited way too long though.

Something that I have learned: I cannot do anything for the other person, I can only help myself.

Keep in touch if you can.
